lollipop topiary

Lollipop Topiary

Reno turned 4 at the end of August. I like doing or making special things for her party each year. This year I made a lollipop topiary. Reno is a lollipop maniac and considers them their own separate food group that has a 4-5 servings a day. She’s lucky if she gets 1 serving a day. The topiary was a big hit with the guests that made it to her party. Sadly for Re a hurricane showed up on the day of her party and a bunch of people weren’t able to make it which just means more lolli’s for us!

To make the topiary you’ll need some sorta topiary ball. You will also need HUNDREDS of lollipops. I though the bag of 175 I bought would be enough but it barely covered half of the ball. I ended up buying another bag of 300 lollipop’s to finish the job (I probably only used another 175-200 pops from the bag of 300). All you have to do is push the lollipop sticks through the ball making sure they are close enough together so none of the ball is still showing. It took awhile to make but I found it quite relaxing.

Birthday cuppies

Chocolate Cupcakes with Vanilla Frosting

My camera batteries died as soon as the party started so all I have are a few crappy iphone pics of her cupcakes. I made 2 dozen vegan chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting. I colored the frosting a really beautiful blue per request of the bday girl. I somehow have a daughter who is obsessed with princesses. I was going to make my own princess themed cupcake decorations but with a 3 month old that was impossible this year.  I found these pink princess crowns on a toothpick thing at a local party store to stick in the cupcakes and I’m happy to say I really liked how they looked. Besides the cupcakes looking wonderful they also tasted wonderful! Quite a few party guests, myself included, ate more then 1 one them. A few people even challenged each other to cupcake eating challenges.

Haircut

Me

I finally got myself a proper haircut! I cut bangs again and I’m thrilled with them. What I’m not thrilled with is the amount of hair that is falling out of my head since giving birth to Miles. I know it’s normal but I don’t remember having this much hair fall out after I had Reno. It’s gross.

What a beautiful haircut–I love the bangs, they look perfect on you!

As for the topiary, holy goodness that’s amazing! I need an excuse to make one now… short of having a kid, that is :)

Happy belated birthday Reno! 4 is such a rad age!

Love the blue tongue! My princess obsessed little girl turned four recently too and would have loved all the lollies! Great idea!

The lollipop tree is genius and if we were having enough people to our party I’d be so all over that!

You and Reno are both total cuties! And that topiary is a great idea. I love those lollipops. I still pick one up at the bank every now and again.
