New Years Eve Eats

New Years Eve was very low key for us. With kids, ages 6 and 2, we aren’t really going to go out or throw some raging party. Plus that isn’t really our style. We are true homebodies so a night in picking on some vegan foods was perfect for us.

I spotted Kite Hill cheeses at one of our local Whole Foods. I first balked at the $12 price tag but figured it was a nice treat for the New Year. I served it with some Salted Rosemary Marcona Almonds and Dried Apricots. Crackers and Baguette slices were on a seperate plate. Was it my favorite vegan cheese? Not really but then again I’m not a fan of most vegan cheeses. (I do have a favorite though believe it or not!) Would I buy it again? Only if I was having a bunch of vegans over for a party. On New Years Eve it was just me eating the cheese and although it was pretty good I’ll never finish the whole wheel. My favorite way to eat it that night was on a thin slice of baguette topped with bruschetta. That was good!

Vegan sausage rolls...pre-baked #vegannewyears

A new family favorite! Some store bought Crescent Rolls are accidentally vegan. Full of chemicals but a nice treat once in awhile.

I usually use Field Roast Sausage in these but have been shopping in stores that only carry Tofurkey sausages lately so that’s what I used here. I take two sausages and cut them in 1/2 with wise and then again length wise. Place them on the wider end of the open crescent roll doll and roll them up. Very simple and the kids love them. They are also fantastic cold out of the fridge the next day and my daughter loves having them for school lunch once in awhile.

We also snacked on:

Kalamata Olives
Gardein Crispy Tenders
Trader Joe’s Vegetable Gyoza (my favorite)
Hummus with Carrots, Zucchini, Cherry Tomatoes and Pretzels

It was a tasty way to end the New Year.
